Global and Feeder Settings
Configuration Assistant, Feeder Management
The Configuration Assistant, Feeder Management tool allows the operator to configure the dynamic protection scheme settings on a per feeder basis. Two options exist
• Protection Schemes
• Disabled: The protection limits of a protection device will not be updated while the device is being fed from this feeder.
• Manual: The NMS will generate a protection scheme event and an associated switching plan when protection devices on the feeder need their protection limits updated. The switching plan must be executed manually by the operator.
• Automatic: The NMS will generate a protection scheme event and an associated switching plan when protection devices on the feeder need their protection limits updated. The switching plan is automatically executed by NMS.
• Protection Schemes Mode
• Before: If a FLISR or Suggested Switching action results in the protection limits of a device being changed then the switching step to alter the protection limits will be inserted into the switching plan before the restoration switch step that caused the change.
• After: If a FLISR or Suggested Switching action results in the protection limits of a device being changed then the switching step to alter the protection limits will be inserted into the switching plan after the restoration switch step that caused the change.
Global DMS Settings
You can set the global state of protection schemes (Disabled, Manual, or Automatic) from the Web Workspace Tools menu's DMS Settings submenu.
The following table outlines the actions taken by NMS under different global and feeder management settings when a protection devices limits require updating.

Displaying the Protection Scheme Settings
The Protection Scheme and Protection Scheme Mode feeder settings can be viewed in the following NMS tools:
• Feeder Load Summary
• Feeder Load Management Feeder Load Overview tab.
• DMS Summary
• Device Details Balloon, DMS Settings tab.
In addition, the global Protection Scheme setting is displayed in the status bar of the Wen Workspace.
