Power Flow Results with Predicted Outages
Power flow analysis supports treating predicted outage devices as being open from the context of power flow results (when enabled by setting an SRS rule). If the functionality is enabled, any device that has a PDO or PSDO will be considered open within the power flow solutions; if a user were to look at the solution results below an outage device, they would see zero flow or voltage. If the functionality is disabled, any predicted outage device will still be treated as closed and show power flow through it.
This functionality, if enabled, is only available in real‑time mode since it could be confusing to users to enable it in study mode even if they are using real‑time topology. While in study mode, there is no context as to which devices have predicted outages so a user would need to keep switching back and forth to determine this. When a predicted outage event is received, it will not force an immediate resolve of the solution; rather, it will be handled much like an analog measurement and get reflected into the solution during the next real‑time solve cycle.
Note: This functionality is set using the CONSIDER_OUTAGE_EVENTS rule. Administrative users can view or change this setting on the Configuration Assistant Event Management Rules tab (see “Using the Event Management Rules Tab” for details).
