Switching Plans
When the protection scheme event is created and associated switching plan is also created containing the steps required to change the protection scheme settings for the relevant protection devices on the feeder. The switching plan can be viewed from the Event Details via the Actions, Switching menu option.
The steps within the protection scheme switching plan are run in separate groups so that the control can be sent in parallel.
The protection scheme event is configured to be automatically completed when the associated switching plan is complete. When the NMS system is configured to automatically update protection scheme settings, the event will appear briefly in the Work Agenda and then be automatically completed once the final protection scheme is updated.
Understanding the Number of Retries for a Timed Out Step
If no response (related to a switching action) from SCADA is received within the configured timeout period, then the switch step status will be set to a value of Failed. When the Protection Scheme plan is executed in automatic mode or when the plan is manually executed using the Execute the entire plan toolbar option, the plan execution can retry a timed out step for a configurable number of times before it sets the switch step status to Failed.
