Data Requirements
Model
The data requirements for SS are similar to regular power flow. The primary objective of SS is to perform switching without incurring violations, therefore the more accurate the model, the better the analysis.
• kVA: Minimum data requirements. Device ratings, nominal voltages, transformer voltage levels and service transformer sizes are sufficient.
• Power Flow: Full data requirements. Defaulting is acceptable but will affect accuracy of results. In addition to the items listed for kVA mode, conductor catalogs are required to produce accurate voltage solutions.
At a minimum therefore projects should provide: Device ratings, nominal voltages, transformer voltage levels, service transformer sizes and conductor catalogs.
Device regulation parameters, load profiles and load models will provide better analysis.
SCADA
SCADA is optional for SS. If SS knows that a device is SCADA switchable, it can refine plans to only use those devices if desired.
