SCADA Asset Locking
The system can be configured to apply a SCADA asset lock on a SCADA asset when the operator opts to send an Open or Close tele-control to the SCADA system. The asset lock is modeled as a condition and is placed on the Viewer when the Look Ahead dialog box is invoked for the SCADA operation.
Note: The lock is only placed if the proposed action is a SCADA Open or Close action (i.e., the lock is not placed for manual actions).
The lock will remain in place until either:
• The request is sent to SCADA
• The request is canceled
• The asset lock times out.
An SRS Rule (ScadaDeviceLockTimeout) controls how long the lock can be placed before expiring and being removed by the system. The operator who has the lock is notified that the lock has been removed and the system cannot guarantee that another operator may not operate the asset.
If another operator attempts to send a SCADA operation to the asset when a lock is applied, the system will prevent them and notify them of who currently has the asset lock.
An operator can manually remove an asset lock by selecting the condition in the Condition Summary and deleting it. The owner of the lock will be notified via a dialog box that the lock has been manually removed and gives an indication of the user who removed the lock.
The system will only apply locks to specific asset classes. The list of asset classes that will have locks applied is configured with an SRS Rule (ScadaLockableClasses).
