Scheduling Work Activities
Work activities can be scheduled by an external system (determined by the existence of an external system defined on the work activity type) or from within the Work and Asset Management application. Within Work and Asset Management, a Scheduling portal is used to schedule the labor requirements associated with a work activity.
Scheduling accomplishes this in the following way:
Looks at the service class listed on the work activity and matches that service class with a crew shift having the same service class.
Matches the labor requirements and estimated duration of the activity with a crew shift having those same capabilities.
Work activities that are not completed on the current shift are reassigned to the next available shift.
The system is queried for new activity labor requirements and any unfinished backlog of work.
Once the shift assignments are complete, the schedule is activated.
A dispatcher may override scheduler decisions at any time.
