Add a User

Administrators can add users to Opower Analytics Visualization and manage user permissions through the Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IDCS) administration console.

Note: This procedure can only be completed after you have received a URL to your IDCS administration console and created a password. Your Oracle Utilities Service Delivery Manager will email you the URL and password creation instructions.

To set up a user:

  1. Navigate to the IDCS administration console you received from your Service Delivery Manager. Tip: Bookmark the URL so that you can easily find it later.
  2. Complete the following procedure to add a new user: Create User Accounts.
  3. Complete the following procedure to assign one or more groups to the user: Assign Groups to the User Account. In most cases, you should assign the user to all four groups: BIContentAuthor, BIConsumer, DVContentAuthor, and DVConsumer.
  4. Group Permissions

    BIContentAuthor

    • Provides read and write access to BI Publisher, a tool for creating reports.
    • Provides read-only access to Data Visualization, a tool for creating graphs and visualizations.

    BIConsumer

    • Provides read-only access to BI Publisher.
    • View and explore reports.

    DVContentAuthor

    • Provides read and write access to Data Visualization.
    • Create, delete, modify, and view visualizations. 

    DVConsumer

    • Provides read-only access to Data Visualization.
    • View and explore visualizations.

The users you add will receive a confirmation email with a link to activate their account and set a password. When this is done, they can log in to the application.
