4.11 Trial Balance Consistency Check
This topic provides information on the Trial Balance Consistency Check process in Oracle Banking Operational Ledger.
This is a consistency check performed on General Ledger balances during the End of Day (EOD) process. It acts as a validation mechanism to verify whether the balance position is internally consistent.
As part of this check, the system validates the following:
Opening Balance + Transaction Movements = Closing Balance
This validation is performed for General Ledger balances based on the Bank parameter setup and current financial cycle. The purpose of this process is to identify any mismatch in balance build-up and help ensure that the ledger remains consistent and accurate. The Operational Ledger supports this process through the following bank-level parameters:
- Trial Balance Required
- Trial Balance Auto Adjustment
These parameters can be maintained in the Bank Parameters screen.
-
Trial Balance Required
- If this option is enabled, the system performs the balance consistency check.
- If this option is disabled, the system skips the Trial Balance consistency validation.
-
Trial Balance Auto Adjustment
- If this toggle is enabled, the system can automatically rebuild or adjust any identified mismatch.
- If this toggle is enabled, the system logs the mismatch for investigation without performing automatic adjustment.
