Creating a Communication Batch Configuration

Introduction

A Communication Batch in Communication Cloud Service processes the incoming communication requests in JSON format, splits them based on configurable elements, and routes each for decision logic evaluation before sending them to the respective Distribution service for delivery.

Prerequisites

Following are the prerequisites to consider before creating a Communication Batch in Communication Cloud Service:

Note:

Ensure that you complete the prerequisites before proceeding.
Prerequisites Details
Set the Config ID Config ID must be Active.

Ensure all dependent configurations and associations are part of the same open Config ID.

See Creating Config ID.
Create Entitlements Ensure that you have the required entitlements to create a Communication Batch.
Create Batch Ensure that you have created the Batch configuration that needs to be associated to the Communication Batch. See Creating a Batch Configuration for more information.

Steps involved in creating a Communication Batch Configuration

  1. Creating a Communication Batch Configuration
  2. Creating a Communication Batch Version

Creating a Communication Batch Configuration

To create a Communication Batch configuration, follow these steps:
  1. Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
  2. From Menu, select Configuration.
  3. Under Configuration, select Batch and then select Communication Batch. This redirects you to the Communication Batch landing page.
  4. On the Communication Batch landing page, select Create.
  5. In Basic Information section, enter the Name, Long Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Batch.
  6. (Optional) In Batch section, select Add Batch, and select the Batch that you want to associate to the Communication Batch.
  7. In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Batch is created. You can change it to a future date if required.
  8. Select Continue to create Communication Batch Version.

Creating a Communication Batch Version

Versions allow for the creation of multiple iterations of a Communication Batch. Active Date helps control when each version of the Communication Batch becomes effective. While a Communication Batch can have several versions, at least one version must be created for a Communication Batch configuration.

To create a Communication Batch Version, follow these steps:
  1. On the Create Communication Batch Version page, in Basic Information section, enter the Name, Long Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Batch Version.
  2. In Structure Type section, select the type of element that is the root of the Structure, which is the overall container of the data.
  3. Under Path, specify the JSON Path that will be considered by Communication configuration to split the Batch into individual requests. Communication Cloud Service supports combining multiple XSD files into a single schema for XML to JSON transformation. (Query-Is this correct according to FSGBUTRUESAAS-140186?)
  4. Select Save to save the details and continue with associating Communication configuration, or select Save & Exit to save the details and return to the landing page.

Associating the Communication Configuration

After saving Communication Batch Version details, you need to associate Communication configuration. This is optional.

To associate Communication, follow these steps:
  1. In Update Communication Batch Version page, under Associations, select Add next to Communication.
  2. Select the Communication configurations that you want to associate. This redirects you to the Field Attributes page. On this page follow these steps.
    1. Selectedit icon to modify the field attributes.
    2. Enter Condition. If you have selected multiple Communication configuration, then you need to specify the condition for JSON Path.
    3. Select Transaction Type from the drop down, to specify which Communication Transaction Type the Communication Detail Configuration and its associated configurations correspond to.
    4. Enter User Defined Transaction Type to identify the specific Communication Detail Configuration for the Communication. This field is enabled only if you have selected Transaction Type as User Defined.
    5. Enter Configuration Effective Date to find configurations that are active on the specified date and time. This date and time is compared against the Active Date on the Configuration Versions and their related configurations (such as Email, Storage, Package, Document Version, Layout, and so on.) to identify the correct assets to use. This helps you to generate output based on future or past configurations. The format must be YYYY-MM-DD. This is optional. If you are not providing the date, the current system date and time will be used, by default.
    6. Enter Transaction Effective Date. The format must be YYYY-MM-DD. This is optional. If you are not providing the date, the current system date and time will be used, by default.
    7. Enter Language. This is optional.
    8. Select check mark to save the changes or cross markto discard the changes. Select Done to continue.

      Note:

You can associate multiple Communication configuration to the Communication Batch Version.
  3. Select Save to save the information, or Save & Exit to save and return to the landing page.

Maintaining a Communication Batch Configuration

Introduction

You can update or delete Communication Batch configuration to cater to the changing business needs.

You can add multiple versions to a Communication Batch configuration. This can be done by either adding a sibling to the Communication Batch configuration or duplicating the existing Version to create a new Version. You also have the option to delete the Communication Batch configuration that you no longer require, if the Config ID is open.

If the initial Config ID used for creating Communication Batch configuration is closed, and if you want to edit the configuration, see Editing a Configuration after Closing the Config ID.

You can update the following information:

  • Editing a Communication Batch Configuration: Update the basic information of the Communication Batch configuration and Active Date, or replace or remove the Batch if the Config ID is open. You can also add another Batch to the same Communication Batch configuration.
  • Editing a Communication Batch Version: Update the basic information of the Version, Structure Type, Path, or Active Date. You can also create new Version, or duplicate an existing Version.
  • Deleting a Communication Batch Version: Delete a Version that you are no longer using, if the Config ID is open.
  • Deleting a Communication Batch Configuration: Delete a Communication Batch configuration that you are no longer using, if the Config ID is open.

Editing a Communication Batch Configuration

You can edit the basic information and Active Date of a Communication Batch configuration. You can also remove or replace the Batch that is already associated, or another Batch to the same Communication Batch configuration.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
  2. From Menu, select Configuration.
  3. Under Configuration, select Batch and then select Communication Batch. This redirects you to the Communication Batch landing page.
  4. To edit the File Security configuration, follow either one of these options from the Communication Batch landing page:
    • From More Menu in Action column of the Communication Batch configuration, select Edit.
    • From Name column, select the required Communication Batch configuration name to view its Summary page. Then from Summary page, select Edit.

This redirects you to the Update Communication Batch page.

  5. On Update Communication Batch, modify the information as required.
  6. To remove or replace the Batch, under Batch section, from More Menu in Action column, of the respective Batch, select Remove or Replace. To replace the Batch, select a different Batch belonging to the same Config ID.
  7. To add another Batch, under Batch section, select Add Another Batch, and select the Batch that you want to associate.
