15 Managing Data Catalog
Data Catalog is the logical representation of the underlying data model, which is
contextualized by the metadata to enable a better understanding of the data model and
the enterprise-wide data. Data structures underlying AFCS are delivered, deployed,
viewed, extended and managed with associated metadata through Data Catalog. The Data
Catalog has the following traits:
- Representation of data structures in Business Terms.
- Representation of data structures in technical terms, including their physical manifestation and properties.
- Alignment of data structures with domains.
- Metadata, including data model and quality constraints.
This section provides information about how you may access, view, extend and manage your Data Catalog.
Note:
In AFCS, Users are expected to use the User Interface primarily which consists of only logical names. All the configuration in the Catalog is done based on the logical names.Note:
When creating dimensions in addition to those available in the service as standard, the following Business Term must compulsorily be added manually as part of the configuration process:- Logical BT Name : "Functional Closure Flag"
