About Technical Guidelines

The detection process consists of three major components, of which a variety of factors impact the performance:

• Datasets: Select, join, filter, and transform records from tables in the database or from other datasets. (refer to Datasets, for more information).
• Patterns: Retrieve and sort records from one or more datasets and then search through them to identify a sequence of activity or a set of conditions of interest. The Scenario Manager includes sequence patterns and rule patterns. (For more information, see Sequence Patterns and Rule Patterns.
• Jobs: Associate patterns to datasets and contain parameters associated with the execution of a detection process; for example, specifies whether the match direction is forward or reverse (refer to Jobs, for more information).
