Creating a Job Template

If you set up a new job with a status code of IGN rather than NEW, the dispatcher ignores the job and the system never runs the job. You should follow this process when a job is not intended to be run but instead is used as a job template (that is, copying the job description many times, changing some aspect of the job slightly in each copy, and then setting each copy to NEW to run automatically). This copy procedure is possible because with each copy of the job with an IGN status code, the system assigns a new, unique ID to it and treats it like a new job.

Using the IGN status code as a way to copy a job eliminates the need to recreate the entire job each time the you want to run a similar job or the same job but for a different date range or entity.
