5.1 Automated Scenario Calibration (ASC)

This section describes about Automated Scenario Calibration (ASC).

The ASC workspace schema serves as the target schema connected to an ASC workspace for scenario tuning. It is essential that this is a valid BD Atomic Schema.

BD Prerequisite

Before creating the ASC workspace, the user should follow these steps:

Methods to Obtain a Valid BD Atomic Schema

There are two primary ways to obtain a valid BD atomic schema.
  1. Setting up a New BD Installation

During installation, the BD installer (schema-creator) creates a valid BD atomic schema.

    Advantages:
    • Provides a fully compliant BD instance.
    • Scenarios can be easily imported or migrated from any compatible BD environment into the ASC workspace for tuning activities.
    Disadvantages:
    • Requires new hardware to deploy an additional BD application server.
    • Necessitates the creation of both Atomic and Config schemas.
    • Syncing data between the new schema and the production BD schema will be necessary.
  2. Leveraging Existing Lower BD Environments

Organizations can use atomic schemas from the following non-production environments:

    1. BD Pre-Production (Pre-Prod)
    2. BD User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
    3. BD Development (Dev)
    Advantages:
    • Supports scenario imports/migrations from other BD environments.
    • If sufficient and valid production data is already present, copying data from production is unnecessary.

    Disadvantages:

    • If the lower environment lacks sufficient historical or production data, synchronization with the production BD schema will be needed.
    Important Notes
    • Production BD atomic schemas must not be set up as ASC workspace schemas, since ASC activities generate a large volume of test alerts, which could negatively impact production system performance.
    • Production BD data should be synchronized with the ASC workspace schema required for tuning activity.
Additional privileges for ASC Workspace Schema
  1. Create the Tablespace. For more information on creating tablespace, see OFS Compliance Studio Installation Guide.
  2. Assign grants to the ASC Workspace Schema. For more information on assign grants to ASC Workspace schema, see the OFS Compliance Studio Installation Guide.
  3. Create a new data store for ASC Workspace schema. To create the data store, see How to Create Data Store section in OFS Compliance Studio Administration and Configuration Guide.
