Assign Nutrients

After loading a nutrient catalog, adding nutrient groups and nutrients, you can link inventory items to comparable items from the selected nutrient catalog. Based on the information linked to these comparable catalog items, Restaurant Operations will reference the nutrition facts for the added nutrients.

  1. On the Dashboard page, click Inventory Items.
  2. Select the record in either View or Edit mode.
  3. Click Manage Nutrients in the header section of the item detail page. The pop-up window shows the nutrient facts for the selected inventory item, including the following:
    • Base Unit: In Pounds.
    • Weight in Kilogram: Conversion of the selected base unit to Kilogram. This is required because nutrient catalogs typically provide details based on 100 grams.
    • Linked Catalog Item (if already linked).
    • Assigned Nutrients: This list displays the nutrient facts from the selected catalog item for nutrients that were previously created.
  4. To link a catalog item to the inventory item:
    1. Click the Assign Nutrient Catalog Item button.
    2. In the Catalog Main Group drop-down list, select the main group from the catalog (available only for some catalogs).
    3. Select the Catalog Group from the drop-down list.
    4. Select the comparable item in the Catalog Item list.
    5. Click the Assign button to finalize the link between the inventory item and the catalog item.
    6. Click the Close button to return to the inventory item record.
  5. To clear the nutrient facts, removing the link between the inventory item and the catalog item:
    1. Click the Clear Nutrient Assignment button.
    2. Click OK to confirm.
  6. Click the Nutrients subtab in the inventory item detail page to view the nutrition facts from the linked catalog item based on the added nutrients.
