Point of Sale User Authentication
The POS client authenticates users by way of using a numeric value
assigned to each user, via one of the following methods:
-
Swiping a magnetic card
-
Tapping a RFID card
-
Entering the user’s Employee ID (numeric values assigned to each employee) using the touchscreen buttons
The POS client also supports fingerprint authentication as either an additional or as the only authentication method. Fingerprint authentication is used either in conjunction with or in place of the numeric value.
Oracle does not recommend using an Employee ID as the only authentication factor for signing into POS devices. Using magnetic/RFID cards and/or fingerprints, or a combination of them, provides stronger security for your POS devices. If you are only using Employee IDs, it is recommended to configure Simphony to require at least 6 digits.
