21 Runner Chits
A Runner Chit is a piece of paper that prints on a printer and contains information about an order so that someone looking at it understands what’s on the order and who it’s for. They are used in kitchen operations to ensure order accuracy.
Runner chits print on certain KDS events:
-
Expo Done – prints when marked Done at the Expo Station
-
Prep Done – prints when marked Done at a Prep Station
-
All Prep Done – prints when Done at all Prep Stations and before marked Done at Expo
-
Item Print on Item All Prep Done – prints a chit for each item in the All Prep Done state
Simphony offers three types of Runner Chits:

The guest check ID, if present, replaces the check number unless the Order Device KDS option 30 – Suppress Guest Check ID on Runner Chits is enabled.

Deli Chit
Some operations require guests to place an order at one station and pick it up at another. To claim the order, the receipt is matched against a printed chit that displays the order number.
The Deli Chit prominently displays the order number, centered and in bold, at the top and bottom of the chit. Other information contained in the original runner chit is also included but arranged in a slightly different order.

Delivery Chit
Delivery chits are used to assist with the fulfillment of delivery orders. Including the check ID, guest check info lines and order item counts helps with order assembly and delivery to the guest.
The Prep Done and Expo Done functions trigger the printing of delivery chits at their respective KDS stations.
Delivery chits printed from prep stations include items prepared at that specific station. Prep station delivery chits will print individual items as well as an ‘item index’ (1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc.), and the chit can be attached to packaged items to identify the item, when the following options are enabled:
-
Dynamic Order Mode (DOM) – RVC Parameters option 50
-
Order Type Option 9 – KDS Allow Item Print on Item All Prep Done
-
Order Devices - KDS Option 29 – Item Print on Item All Prep Done
Delivery chits printed from the expo include all the items configured to route to expo. When Dynamic Order Mode (DOM) is enabled, Expo chits will print the Count of items in the order. The following options must be enabled:
-
Order Devices - KDS Option 11 - Display Menu Item Count
-
Menu item Class - Option 62 - Count Menu Item - must be enabled for any menu items that should contribute to the count.
