Configuring the Barcode Scanner on the Oracle MICROS Tablet 72X

Prior to configuring the scanner, ensure that your 72x tablet is configured with the correct Type. See Adding a Workstation for more information.
The Oracle MICROS Tablet 72x has a built-in Barcode Scanner that can be configured as a COM3 Barcode Reader or an OPOS Barcode Reader. Check the Device Manager to see how yours is configured:
  • Honeywell N4680 (COM3) (or similar) – configured as a Generic Barcode Reader.

  • POS HID Barcode Scanner – configured as an OPOS Barcode Reader.

  1. In EMC, select Property, Setup, Hardware/Interfaces, Workstations, and then Devices.
  2. In the Peripheral Device Configuration section, click Add.
  3. For the OPOS Barcode Reader:
    1. For Select Peripheral Device Type, select OPOS Barcode Reader.
    2. For Configuration, enter Honeywell.
    3. Click OK, and then click Save.
  4. For the Generic Barcode Reader:
    1. For Select Peripheral Device Type, select Generic Barcode Reader.
    2. For COM Port Settings:
      Verify the COM Port number shown in Device Manager:
      • COM Port = COM3 9600, N, 8, 1

    3. Click OK, and then click Save.
