- Select the Enterprise, property, revenue center, or zone, click Configuration, and then click Page Design.
- Open the page where you want to place credit card buttons.
- On the Edit tab, select the area where the credit card buttons will appear (typically the payment area).
- Click Payments.
- On the General subtab, select Payment Tenders from the Type drop-down list.
- Click the black arrow beneath the Type drop-down list.
- In the Select Tender/Media Payment dialog, select None to use all types of credit cards, and then click OK.
- In the Payment Configuration dialog, select CreditDebit:Loadable from the Payment Type drop-down list.
- Select the appropriate function key from the Functions drop-down list:
-
CreditAuthOnly: Sends a request to the cardholder’s bank to authorize available funds and place a hold on those funds for sale (does not capture the sale). This function is used in Table Service to obtain authorization of payment.
To instruct the payment terminal to accept manual entry of the card number instead of the more secure swipe/tap or insert card option, configure a separate button for Mail Order Telephone Order (MOTO) (PSP support required). In the Argument field, enter MOTO, and click OK.
-
CreditAuthAndPay: Authorize funds and complete the sale. This function is used in Quick Service to apply payment and close a check.
Use Restricted Auth and Pay to inform the PSP that only cards of the specified tender may be accepted. Should the PSP not support this feature and process a payment card other than the allowed type, SPI will display an error to the user and reverse the transaction. In the Argument field, enter the Preamble for the allowed Tender/Media, and click OK.
Note:
Cash back is not supported with the Restricted Auth and Pay function. -
InitialAuthorization: Send a request to the cardholder’s bank to authorize funds and place a hold on those funds for sale. The account is not charged. This function is used in Table Service to obtain authorization of payment for a large party or with bar tabs where additional charges may be incurred. It is also used to name a bar tab after the patron whose credit card was authorized.
To update the check ID (check name) with the card holder’s name from the authorized credit card, in the Argument field, enter GuestCheckId, and click OK.
-
ManualAuthorization: Allows manual entry of an authorization code when the processor connection is unavailable.
-
- Position and size the button as needed. Use the Style arrow to change the color.
- In the Legend field, enter the button label.
- Repeat these steps for each payment function.
- Click Save.
