Items

The Items Page allows you to create and manage individual menu items, both single items and packages. Here’s a detailed breakdown of creating Single Items:

Creating Single Items

To add a new single item, click the Create New Item button, and then complete the following fields:
  • Item Name:

Provide a clear name for the menu item that customers will see when ordering.

  • Menu Association:

Select the menu where this item will appear. This item will be linked to the selected menu for that event or recurring order.

  • Item Category:

Select an appropriate category for the item (for example, appetizers, drinks, entrees, desserts). This helps organize items within the menu.

  • Customer-Facing Description:

Add a detailed description of the item, which will be displayed to customers when they are ordering. This is an important field to provide clarity on what the item is and its ingredients, especially for dietary preferences or restrictions.

  • Item Type (Food/Beverage):

Specify whether the item is food or a beverage. If it is a beverage, you can further specify whether it contains alcohol.

  • Price and Serving Sizes:

Define the pricing for the item and set the available serving sizes. Each serving size can have separate price points for pre-order and event day options. For example, a dish could be available in small, medium, and large sizes, each with a distinct price.

  • Linking to POS System:

Each serving size is linked to an existing POS item in the Simphony system. When an order is placed, the item’s corresponding POS item is used to calculate the total and update the system with the appropriate inventory and sales data.

  • Ingredients:

Define the ingredients that are associated with the item. This ensures accurate reporting and labeling in production and customer-facing displays.

  • Modifiers:

If applicable, you can configure modifiers for the item. Modifiers allow customers to customize their order (for example, adding extra cheese or choosing between different sides). These can be predefined choices or custom options based on customer preferences.

Creating Package Items

The Packages page allows you to define bundled items. A package includes multiple single items that can be offered together as a set. When creating a package, the process is similar to creating a single item but involves linking multiple individual items into a single offering.

You can configure a package in the same way as a single item, with additional details for each included item. Packages can be customized with pricing, serving sizes, and ingredient management.

Item Management

Once the item is created, it appears in the Items Page, where you can:
  • Edit or Update the item’s details.
  • Deactivate an item if it is no longer offered.
