About dictionary types and dictionary schemas

A dictionary type is a Central Coding concept that identifies a family of coding dictionaries.

Dictionary types are defined in XML files that contain the metadata for the dictionary levels and the SQL needed to set up the tables in the database. These files also contain the default element configuration settings that control which coding features and information are available to users in the Central Coding user interface.

Dictionary schemas are created from dictionary types. Each dictionary version is loaded into a separate Oracle database schema.
