Upgrading a synonym list

Use this procedure to create a new synonym list for the new dictionary version by upgrading an existing synonym list.

Upgraded synonym lists have a status of Update—Complete.

After you upgrade a synonym list to a dictionary version, you cannot upgrade the synonym list to the same dictionary version again.

If the synonym list to upgrade is an inherited synonym list, the parent synonym list is also upgraded.

  1. Select Coding Setup > Synonym Lists.

    The Synonym Lists page appears.

  2. Select a synonym list.
  3. Select Actions > Upgrade.

The Upgrade Synonym List dialog box appears. For a description of the fields on this page, see Upgrade Synonym List In Process page.

  4. In the New column, specify the following:
    • Synonym List—Unique name for the new synonym list.
    • Parent Synonym List—Name for the upgraded parent synonym list, if the synonym list to upgrade to is inherited.
    • Dictionary Version—Dictionary version for the new synonym list.
  5. To autoreconcile the capitalization in different WHO-DD dictionary versions so the Preferred Term for coded verbatims exactly matches the capitalization of the Preferred Name for the WHO-DD format, select Auto Reconcile Term Capitalization Differences.
  6. Click OK.

The Upgrade Synonym List In Process page appears.

After the upgrade, the status of the synonym list changes to Update—Complete.

  7. To view the status of the synonyms that were upgraded, run the Synonym Reconciliation Report.

For more information, see Running the Synonym Reconciliation Report.

  8. Do one of the following:
    1. If there are synonym differences between the dictionary versions, reconcile the synonyms.

For more information, see Reconciling a synonym.

    2. If there are no synonym differences between the dictionaries, save the upgraded list.

For more information, see Saving synonym changes to the database.
