About synonyms
A synonym is a word or phrase that is equivalent to the classification-level term associated with a code in a coding dictionary. Using synonyms increases the chance that the autocoding algorithm will find a code match for a verbatim.
There are two ways to create synonyms:
- A coder suggests a synonym in the coding browser and the dictionary manager or administrator approves it for use. For more information, see Suggesting a synonym.
