Can I enter a partial date on a form?

If partial dates are allowed on a date/time type of question during the design of your study, then you can use a partial date when answering that question.

Partial dates may be allowed on certain date/time type of questions in the study. For example, the start date of a concomitant medication may not be known, so it can be designed with a partial date. In this case, you would only need to complete the month and year of the concomitant medication start date and may select UNK for the day that's part of the date, if that is unknown.

Depending on what the minimum allowed format is, you can enter:
  • The month and year
  • The year

If you don't know the day or the month in a date, from the drop-down for each element, select UNK. UNK stands for Unknown.
