Why am I being warned about truncated discrepancy text?

If you are creating, modifying, or enabling a Validation Check for data that originated from Clinical One, you may receive this warning in the DMW user interface: "This validation check may create discrepancy text that exceeds the limit of 3958 characters. Any text beyond length of 3958 characters will be truncated in the discrepancy text. Do you want to continue?"

Text fields in Clinical One can contain up to 4000 characters. DMW has a character limit of 3958 for discrepancy text. The disparity between the text storage limits in Clinical One and DMW may result in the creation of a discrepancy that could contain more than the limited text amount of 3958 characters. At that point, you'll get the warning letting you know that discrepancies created from that Validation Check may result in truncated discrepancy text. The truncated discrepancy text has no other effect on your workflow.

It's also possible for discrepancy text to be truncated when sending discrepancies back to Clinical One from DMW. Clinical One can only store up to 2048 characters of discrepancy text so any discrepancy text past that limit sent from DMW will be truncated in Clinical One.
