About background processing for reports

Background processing allows processes, such as reports, to run without user intervention and interruption, so that you can perform other tasks simultaneously. Uninterrupted background processing also allows you to exit the application without affecting job processing or completion. Background processing is a standard feature and occurs automatically. You do not need to enable background processing.

One background processing job exists per task when you perform any of the following:

• Create output from a report definition.
• Create output from an interactive report definition.
• Create and edit an interactive report definition.

Note:

Background processing does not occur for query-based interactive report outputs.
