Insert a field variable into email message text
To provide contextual information in an email message, you can include topic and action field variables in the message subject and text. When the message is generated, field variables are replaced by the current values.
For example, an email notification rule that includes field variables in the message text appears as follows:
The state for the <<topic.TOPIC_NAME>> topic has been
changed to <<topic.CURRENT_STATE_ID>>. The following reason for this
change was provided:
<<topic.STATE_CHANGE_REASON>>
.
When an email message is generated based on this rule, the body of the actual message might read:
The state for the Acetaminophen and Alcohol Use topic has been
changed to Closed. The following reason for this change was provided: This is
a known, labeled risk.
Note:
Before including fields in the message subject or message text, ensure that the resulting emails will not contain sensitive or confidential information.Parent topic: Manage email notification rules
