Run the in-place upgrade

Note: Prior to running an in-place upgrde, you must stop all studies, services and other integrations, such as InForm Adapter and InForm Publisher.

Note: The review schema requires about two times the space as the study schema. Be sure to check your disk space and tablespace allocations to ensure adequate resources before you run the upgrade.

Note: The in-place upgrade automatically runs the RECREATEREVIEWSCHEMA command at the end of the upgrade process. You do not need to run it manually unless you need to correct any recreate review schema problems.

  1. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the contents of the ISO file, and run the setup.exe file located in the InFormUpgrade folder.

    The installation wizard opens.

  2. Click Next.

    The Oracle System and Sys user information page appears.

    Note: Enter the credentials for the system user in both the System and Sys fields.

    1. In the Enter Oracle System Username field, enter the name of the Oracle database system user.
    2. In the Enter Oracle System User Password field, enter the password for the Oracle database system user.
    3. In the Enter Oracle Sys Username field, enter the name of the Oracle database system user.
    4. In the Enter Oracle Sys User Password field, enter the password for the Oracle database system user.
  3. Click Next to start the upgrade program.

    Running the in-place upgrade wizard upgrades the core InForm software. .

  4. An error message will appear, stating IIS failed to start. Click Continue to finish the upgrade.
  5. When the upgrade completes, click Finish.
  6. Open the ApplicationHost.config file under C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config\
  7. Locate the line <location path="Default Web Site/Portal Configuration Wizard"> and delete the following three lines under it:

    <system.web>

    <authentication mode="Windows" />

    </system.web>

  8. Save and close the file.
  9. Run the IISReset command to start IIS.
  10. Clear the Client browser cache.

Note: If the in-place upgrade fails for any reason, use the backup files you created in Back up the InForm study and admin databases and files for the in-place upgrade to restore your InForm 6.2.x.x, 6.3, or 6.3.1.x environment.
