Rules

Rules report elements return information on rules in your study.

Rules report elements

Report element

Description

Rule Item RefName

Data type: String

Description: The name that uniquely identifies the item to which the rule is attached in the study design code. This corresponds to the Short Question in the Central Designer application or Itemset Column Header in the InForm application. Access to this data can be restricted in the InForm application. When users who do not have access to this data run a report with this report element, the resulting report displays a series of asterisks (********) rather than the actual text.

Data source: Replicated from the InForm transactional database to the Reporting and Analysis database.

Data type: String

Description: The type of rule. Valid values are:

  • Server Rule—Executes on the server.
  • Browser Rule—Executes on the browser. Two browser-side rule activities are supported in the InForm application:
    • Checks for text entries in a numeric field or numeric entries in an alphabetic field.
    • Smart controls, which provide automatic selection of radio buttons and checkboxes when a user enters or selects a value in an associated text control or list.
  • Server Calc Rule—Provides the result for a calculated control whose value is based on the value of one or more other items.
  • Server conversion—Converts units from one standard to another standard.
  • Server Rand Rule—Determines the randomized drug kit number to assign in a calculated control.
  • Clintrialderivation—Used in a Clintrial study to provide the result for a derived data item whose value is based on the value of one or more other items in the Clintrial database.
  • Clintrialrule—Used in a Clintrial study.
  • Workflow—Determines the visit or form to which a subject progresses next. A workflow rule prevents study objects in the workflow from appearing until the rule is evaluated.
  • Global Condition—Determines whether a visit, form, or item appears for a subject. A global condition does not affect other study objects in the workflow.
