About Cognos Reporting

In Cognos Analytics 11, IBM re-named some components of functionality as compared to previous Cognos releases. The notable change in semantics for InForm usage of Cognos is that the IBM Cognos Feature historically referenced as ‘Reports Studio’ is now known as simply Reporting in Cognos 11 and onwards.

Whilst Cognos 11 is used for prior InForm releases, product documentation for these earlier InForm versions remained unchanged and does not reflect these recent IBM terminology changes. As we are introducing a Cognos feature access change to the InForm Reporting Group Ad Hoc users group in InForm 7.0, the associated documentation for this release has been updated to reflect the new IBM terminology. References to Reports Studio have been updated to ‘Cognos Reporting’ to reflect this.

Reports created with Query Studio still function and are editable even after the revocation of Query Studio access simply by converting these reports to Cognos Reporting. For more information, see Converting Query Studio reports to Cognos Reporting reports.

Note: If you need a detailed overview of the changes made from 'Report Studio' and 'Query Studio' to the new Cognos Reporting interface, see IBM’s website.

The Cognos Reporting workspace provides the flexibility to quickly create different types of reports:

You create ad hoc reports on both clinical and study management data using the Cognos Reporting workspace, which is powered by the Cognos Reporting application. Ad hoc reports allow limited use of Cognos features such as data output styles, report layout and formatting, summarizations and aggregations, mathematical functions, and prompts.
