Overview of Patient Portal
Depending on your organization and account type, Patient Portal allows you to:
- Access Logs: View access logs with information about who has viewed your health record pages.
- Administration: Patient Portal Administrative Console (Administrative Console) is the platform used to configure, monitor, and manage an organization’s instance of Patient Portal Cloud Service (Patient Portal). The following modules are available:
- Global Settings: View and change settings that apply to your entire instance of Patient Portal. This module includes Foundation, Confidentiality, Policies, Code Sets, and Third-Party Integrations, and Banners.
- Module Settings: View and change settings that apply to specific areas of the Patient Portal. This module includes Financial, Health Record, Medication, Messaging, Registration, and Scheduling.
- Reporting Dashboard: View statistics regarding patient portal instance usage.
- User Management: Add other patient portal administrators and grant permissions based on their role’s access needs.
- Support: Assist patients who call in to ask for help with their Patient Portal experience such as resending expired access codes.
- Survey Management: View and edit family health history, social history, depression screener, and tobacco cessation questionnaires, and associate them with applicable appointments.
- Appointments:
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
- Add appointments to a list of favorites, and book favorite completed appointments again.
- Schedule an appointment with a provider you have visited previously.
- View clinical notes and visit summaries for appointments that you’ve completed.
- Preregister for an appointment and identify that you have arrived for an in-person appointment.
- Schedule an appointment for a connected family member as an authorized representative.
- Bill Pay: See and pay any outstanding bills.
- Health Record:
- View your health record, including any allergies, test results, vital signs, and immunizations entered by your provider or care team.
- Download and share your entire health record or individual health record encounters.
- Have protected health records with confidentiality and sensitivity settings applied based on patient relationships and protected age of minors.
- View a connected family member’s health records, and download and send it on their behalf, using an authorized representative (proxy user) relationship.
- Medications: View a list of medications, and request renewals and refills for prescriptions as needed.
- Messages
- Send and receive messages with your provider or care team.
- Send a message on behalf of a connected family member as an authorized representative.
- Settings: View settings to change the language displayed in Patient Portal.

Patient Portal Intended Use
