Configure the Communication Encounter Type

This topic provides information about configuring the communication encounter type code value.

The new encounter type code value is required for Oracle Health EHR.

To add the new encounter type code value to Code Set 71:

1. In Core Code Builder (CoreCodeBuilder.exe), search for and select Code Set 71.
2. In the Code Value Management tab, select Add.
3. Enter Communication in the Display box. The Display Key, Description, and Definition boxes are populated automatically with the same value.
4. Select COMMUNICATE as the CDF meaning.
5. After entering the appropriate information, select Apply, then select OK to save your changes.
6. For the communication encounter type, complete the steps in all sections of Configure Between-Visit Encounters except for the sections about discharging encounters. Ensure that communication encounters always remain open.

   Note:

   The steps for configuring between-visit encounters and communication encounters are the same. When you follow the steps in Configure Between-Visit Encounters, ensure that you complete the steps only for communication encounters. Do not update your between-visit encounters.
7. Contact your Oracle representative to cycle the ml-encounter cloud service.
