Referral Update Status

Component: Referrals

Referrals with the following statuses now can be updated:
  • Pending Acceptance to Accepted
  • Prepare Send to Pending Acceptance.

UI Impact: Workflow (Automatic)

For referrals with a status of Pending Acceptance, an Accept button is available. For referrals with a Prepare Send status, a Send button is available.

Provider Search

Component: Referrals

You now can schedule an appointment for a referral or associate an existing appointment with a referral.

UI Impact: Workflow (Automatic)

In the Associated Appointments section on the referral details page, you can select Add Appointment. Also, you can attach appointments from the Confirmed Appointments section.

Associate an Appointment with a Referral

You now can search for and add a practice site or provider to the Refer From and Refer To sections on the referral details page.

For a referral, you can select Add a Provider in the Refer To section on the referral details page. You can also select Edit in the Refer To or Refer From sections.

You now can attach or remove documents for a referral and preview the document before attaching it.

Referral Order Fields

The Requested Service and Refer To fields now are available on the referral order form when you create a referral order.

  1. From the Medications and Orders section of the patient's chart or from the Medications and Orders page, select Add Order.
  2. In Order Name, search for and select Referral Order.
  3. Fill out the order form, and select Sign. Verify that a referral order is created.

Validation Guidelines

Referral Update Status (EHRM-17585)

Scenario 1: Pending Acceptance to Accepted

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select referral with a status of Pending Acceptance.
  2. In the referral detail page, select Accept.
  3. In the Encounter Information panel, associate the referral to an existing visit or create a new one.
    • To associate the referral to an existing visit, select a visit on the list and select Submit.
    • To create a new visit, select Create, then select a type and location, and then select Submit.
  4. Verify that the status of the referral is updated to Accepted.

Scenario 2: Prepare Send to Pending Acceptance

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral with a status of Prepare Send.
  2. In the referral detail page, add the required details and verify that the Refer To provider is internal.
  3. Select Send. Verify that the status of the referral is updated to Pending Acceptance.

Provider Search (EHRM-24903)

Scenario 1: Add a Referred Provider

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral.
  2. In the Refer To section, select Add a Provider.
  3. In the Provider Search Panel, search for a provider.
  4. Select a practice site or a provider and select Save. Verify that the referred provider is added to the referral.

Scenario 2: Update a Referred or Referring Provider

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral.
  2. In the Refer From or Refer To section, select Edit.
  3. In the Provider Search Panel, search for a provider.
  4. Select a practice site or a provider and select Save. Verify that the provider is added to the referral.

Associate an Appointment with a Referral (EHRM-33883)

Scenario 1: Schedule an Appointment for a Referral

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral.
  2. In the Associated Appointments section, select Add Appointment.
  3. In the Schedule Appointment page, search for and select an appointment.
  4. Select Schedule. Verify that the appointment is associated with the referral.

Scenario 2: Associate a Confirmed Appointment for a Referral

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral.
  2. In the Confirmed Appointments section, select Attach. Verify that the confirmed appointment is moved to the Associated Appointment section.

Scenario 3: Disassociate an Appointment from a Referral

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral.
  2. In the Associated Appointments section, select Disassociate next to the appointment.
  3. In the Disassociate Appointment message, select Confirm. Verify that the appointment is disassociated from the referral.

Associate or Disassociate Diagnoses to a Referral (EHRM-37366)

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral.
  2. Select Actions (…), then select Edit.
  3. In the Diagnoses section, select one or more diagnoses and select Save Changes. Verify that the diagnoses are associated to the referral.
  4. Select Actions (…), then select Edit.
  5. In the Diagnoses section, select Remove Associated Diagnosis next to a diagnosis.
  6. Select Save Changes. Verify that the diagnosis is disassociated to the referral.

Referral Attachment (EHRM-43456)

  1. In the Referrals tab on the Visits, Appointments, and Referrals page, select a referral.
  2. In the Attachment section, select Add under Clinical Documents or Add Diagnostic Reports.
  3. In the add attachment panel, select View next to a document or report. Verify that the document or report opens.
  4. Go back to the add attachment panel and select Add next to a document or report. Verify that the document or report is attached to the referral.
  5. In the Attachment section, select Remove Attachment next to the document or report. Verify that the document or report is removed.
