Redeeming Loyalty Awards for Stays and Room Type Upgrades

When integrated with the OPERA Cloud Customer Loyalty Tracking Cloud Service, you can redeem Member Award points or stays or room type upgrade awards offered based on specific validity dates, the member's tier or level, and other factors.

For room type upgrade awards, a link appears in reservation Book Now when an upgrade award is available for the dates and the room type booked. The Upgrade Award link appears in the reservation presentation for eligible member future or arrival reservations based on the Auto Upgrade Prompt All Dates OPERA Control.

Once redeemed, the Points Available value on the profile membership panel is updated to show the deduction in points (or increase based on updates/cancellations).

An Award record is also created for each night on the profile membership panel. See Viewing (Loyalty) Award.

Booking a Stay (Rate) Award Redemption Reservation

To redeem a stay, the available points balance must be sufficient to cover all nights.

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Reservations, and then select Look To Book Sales Screen.

  2. Enter the caller and contact information (available when the Caller Information OPERA Control is active).

  3. Click New Reservation.

  4. In the search panel enter the reservation stay details:
    1. Name: Enter and search for the loyalty member profile.

      1. Select the profile from the search results and click Select.

      2. The Member Number field is populated automatically.

    2. Redeem Awards: Select the check box to indicate an Award reservation.

      Note:

      The Rooms field will be set to 1 and disabled.
  5. Click Search.

  6. The Availability panel displays a list of the available Awards rates and the points per night.

Note:

The rates are based on the available points balance, member level/tier, validity dates and other criteria. If the member does not have sufficient points for any of the available awards, no awards appear.

  1. Click the rate and room type cell to select for the reservation and then click Select.

  2. Complete the entry of the reservation details. See Booking a Reservation..

Note:

The Stay Information panel displays the Total Points Needed and the Remaining Points Balance.

Updating a Stay (Rate) Award Redemption Reservation

When increasing the length of stay, additional points are deducted and an additional award appears for each additional night on the profile membership Award List panel.

When reducing the length of stay, the deducted points are credited and the award appears as cancelled on the profile membership Award List panel.

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Reservations, and then select Look To Book Sales Screen.

  2. Enter search criteria and click Search.

  3. Select the reservation in the search results, click the I Want To . . . menu and select Reservation, or click the confirmation number in the reservation presentation.

  4. Update the stay details as needed. See Managing Reservations Editing Reservation stay Details.

Cancelling a Stay (Rate) Award Redemption Reservation

When cancelling an Award reservation, the deducted points are credited and the award appears as cancelled on the profile membership Award List panel.

Booking a Room Type Upgrade Award Redemption Reservation

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Reservations, and then select Look To Book Sales Screen.

  2. Enter the caller and contact information (available when the Caller Information OPERA Control is active).

  3. Click New Reservation.

  4. In the search panel, enter the reservation stay details:
    1. Name: Enter and search for the loyalty member profile.

      1. Select the profile from the search result and click Select.

      2. The Member Number field is populated automatically.

  5. Click Search.

  6. Click the rate and room type cell to select for the reservation and then click Select.

  7. The Book Now page appears for entering the reservation details.

  8. Click the Member Award Upgrade available for this reservation link at the top of the page.

    Note:

    The upgrade offer is based on the available points balance, member level/tier, validity dates, and other criteria. If the member does not have sufficient points, no awards appear.
    1. The Member Award Upgrade page displays the details of the upgrade available

    2. Click Select to confirm and proceed with the upgrade.

    Note:

    The room type is updated, and the Room Type to Charge (RTC) retains the original room type.

  9. Complete the entry of the reservation details. See Booking a Reservation..

  10. Click Book Now.

  3. Select the reservation in the search result, click the I Want To . . . menu and then click Reservation, or click the confirmation number in the reservation presentation.

Cancelling a Room Type Upgrade Award Redemption Reservation

When cancelling an Award reservation, the deducted points are credited and the award appears as cancelled on the profile membership Award List panel. See Managing Reservation Cancellation.
