Copying Blocks

Use the Block Copy feature to clone a block and its associated room allocation and catering events to new dates in the current property. The original block serves as a template for the new block, and you are provided options to select which attributes to copy to the new block. In multi-property operations, you can copy a block to another property from a hub location.

The original block serves as a template for the new block, and you are provided options to select which attributes to copy to the new block. The status of the block created defaults according to the Copy Booking Status OPERA Control. The status of events created default according to the Catering Status when Copying an Event OPERA Control.

Note:

The following items will not be copied from the business block:
  • Cutoff Date

  • Rate Guaranteed

  • Item Discount

  • Rate Protect

  • Non Compete

  • NC Industry

  • Ranking

  • Conversion

  • CXL Penalty

  • Lost to Destination

  • Lost to Property

Copying a Block and Events (Current Property)

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Blocks, and then select Manage Block.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. Select a block in the search results, click I Want To . . ., and then select Copy Block.

  4. Complete the following on the Copy Block page:
    1. (New Block) Start Date: Enter an arrival date for the block.

    2. (New Block) End Date: Enter a departure date for the block.

    3. Copy Date Range From: Enter a date from within the Start and End dates of the source block to limit copy range.

    4. Copy Date Range To: Enter a date from within the Start and End dates of the source block to limit copy range.

    5. Block Code: Enter a block code.
      1. Click Get Default Block Code to generate the block code.

    6. Include Booking Note: Select the check box to copy block notes to the new block.

    7. Keep Same Group Profile: Select check box to link a new block to the same group profile.

    8. Adjust Decision and Follow-up Dates: Select check box to adjust the decision and follow-up dates for the new block by the same number of days before or after the New Start Date as applied to the source block. The value of the new dependent dates will not be less than the current business date. If no date was specified for any of these fields on the source block, the field will remain null (empty) on the new block. If this check box is not selected, the dependent dates from the source block will be copied to the new block

    9. Room Block: Select check box to copy room block allocation to the new block. If the source block has a room allocation set up, this option will be selected by default. 

    10. Grid Type: Select a grid type from the list to copy.

    11. Contract Grid: Select to copy the contract grid to the new block. .

    12. Events and Space: Select the check box to copy events and function space allocation to the new block.
      1. Include Event Notes: Select check box to copy event notes to the new events.
        1. Include Change Notes: Select check box to copy event change notes to the new events

      2. Other Event Resources: Select the check box to copy the menu and item resources to the new block. Available when events are set up on the source block:
        1. Resource Prices: Select the check box to copy the price and discount percentage from the source event resources to the new events

        2. Include Resource Notes: Select the check box to copy resource notes to the new events. 

      3. Keep Same Number of Attendees: Select the check box to copy the same number of attendees to the new business block. All of the new events will be copied with the same number of attendees as the source events. If not selected, enter the number of attendees.

      4. Number of Attendees: Enter a number of attendees.

  5. Click Copy Block.

Copying a Block to Another Property

You can copy a block to another property from a hub location.

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Blocks, and then select Manage Block.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. Select a Block in the search results, click I Want To . . . , and then select Copy Block.

  4. Complete the following on the Copy Block page for the new block:
    1. Copy to Property: Select the check box to copy the block to another property.

    2. Property: Enter or select the property from the list.

    3. (New Block) Start Date: Enter an arrival date for the block.

    4. (New Block) End Date: Enter a departure date for the block.

    5. (New Block) Block Code: Enter a block code.
      1. Click Get Default Block Code to generate the block code.

    6. Include Booking Note: Select the check box to copy block notes to the new block.

    7. Keep Same Group Profile: Select the check box to link the new block to the same group profile.

    8. Adjust Decision and Follow-up Dates. Select the check box to adjust the decision and follow-up dates for the new block by the same number of days before or after the New Start Date as applied to the source block.     9. Market Code: Select a market code from the list.

    10. Source Code: Select a source code from the list.

    11. Rate Code: Select a rate code from the list.

  5. Click Copy Block.
