Configuring Menu Item Class

Menu Item Classes are used to group menu items. After configuring Menu Item Classes, you can link them to the appropriate menu items.

Define Menu Item Classes based on the types of services your property can offer to clients, for instance, Menu, Buffet, Cocktail, Breakfast, Coffee Break, and so on.

Based on these examples, you can define the following Menu Item Classes:

For Menus:
  • Menu Starters

  • Menu Entrees

  • Menu Desserts

For Buffet:
  • Buffet Starters

  • Buffet Cold entrees

  • Buffet Hot entrees

  • Buffet Desserts

For Beverages:
  • Soft Drinks

  • White Wines

  • Red Wines

  • Beers

  • Champagne

  • Spirits

Note:

In multi-property operations you can copy the configuration from one property to other properties. Refer to: Copying Configurations to Multiple Properties.

Adding a Menu item Class

  1. From the Administration menu, select Booking, select Resource Management, and select Menu Items.

  2. Select the Menu Item Classes tab.

  3. Select New and complete the following:

    1. Property: Select or confirm the property.

    2. Menu Item Class Name: Enter a description for the menu class, such as Breakfast, Bar Menus, Buffet Lunch, and so on.

    3. Event Type: Select the event types most likely to use the menus associated with this Menu Class. The menus associated to this menu class inherit the event types you select.

    4. Responsible Department: Select a Department responsible for the menu items in this class. Responsible Departments are inherited by the Menu Items linked to the Class. If the Responsible Departments should change on the Menu Item Class, you are prompted to update any existing Menu Items linked to the Menu Item Class.

    5. Sequence: Enter a number that controls the position of this code in listings.

    6. Bookable through website: Select the check box if this item class should be available for selection when an event is booked through OWS.

    7. Menu Type.

      1. Food: Select if this class only contains food item.

      2. Beverage: Select if this class only contains beverage items.

  4. Click Save.

Editing a Menu Item Class

  1. From the Administration menu, select Booking select Resource Management, and select Menu Items.

  2. Select the Menu Item Classes tab.

  3. Enter search criteria and click Search.

  4. In the search results, select the menu item class, click the Vertical Ellipsis, and select Edit.

    1. Update the configuration.

    2. Inactive. When selected, the menu class becomes inactive and by default will not appear in the results area.

  5. Click Save.

Deleting a Menu Item Class

  1. From the Administration menu, select Booking select Resource Management, and select Menu Items.

  2. Select the Menu Item Classes tab.

  3. Enter search criteria and click Search.

  4. In the search results, select the Menu Item Class, click the Vertical Ellipsis, and select Delete.

  5. Click Delete to confirm.
