Managing Room Rotation Points

Use Rotation Points to see all accumulated rotation points for owner rooms as well as points accumulated during Out of Order /Out of Service status of the rooms, the random generated rotation points, the points accumulated after the current stay is completed and depending on the forecast related settings, the forecasted point balance of all rooms with rotation points.

You can view the following point calculations for each room in the search result:

  • Total with Forecast Points: This column displays the total number of points for the selected room as well as any points which have been forecasted for the room within the current Rotation Period. (Available when the Forecast Rotation Points OPERA Control is active).

  • Current Points: The total number of points that have been accumulated for the room, not considering forecasted points.

  • Out of Order / Service: This column displays any Rotation Points that have been accumulated while the selected room had an Out of Order or Out of Service status. (Available when the Out of Service or Out of Order OPERA Controls are active).

  • Balance Forward: This column allows you to enter Rotation Points during the first month of the first Rotation Period which may have been accrued in another system. This column is only visible when the business date of the property is within the first Rotation Period.

  • Adjusted Points: This column allows for both positive and negative numeric values up to 7 decimal points to be entered that are applicable to the entire period for the unit, not for a specific date. The adjusted points can be entered and modified if the date selected in the search filter is in the current rotation period. Once these points are entered, they will be considered into the Current Points calculation for rotation assignment.

  • Random Points: Random points are automatically and randomly assigned at the beginning of a period. For additional information, see Rotation Setup.

  • Calculated Points: The points accumulated after the stay is complete based on the formula defined in configuration.

  • Prorated Average: The number of points given to a unit, when they decide to join the rental program in the middle of a term.

Editing Room Rotation Points

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Inventory, select Room Rotation, select Rotation Points.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. Click Edit.

    1. Adjusted Points: Enter a positive number to increase the Current Points or enter a negative number to decrease the Current Points.

    2. Repeat for each room as needed.

    3. Click Save and Recalculate.

Editing Balance Forward Room Rotation Points

The Balance Forward Points column is only visible when the business date is earlier than the date when the first rotation period reset occurs. The Balance Forward Points column can only be updated when the business date is within the first month from the Rotation Period Reset Frequency Start Date defined in Rotation Setup. The Balance Forward Points column allows for the entry of rotation points that a room may have accumulated, that have not been entered due to being accrued in an external solution. Once these points are entered, they are considered in the Current Points calculation for rotation assignment.

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Inventory, select Room Rotation, select Rotation Points.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. Click Edit.

    1. Balance Forward Points: Enter the number of points to be used.

    2. Repeat for each room as needed.

    3. Click Save and Recalculate.
