Changing Room Type to Another Room Type

The Change Room Type to Another Room Type utility allows specified room type(s) for a property to be changed to another room type on rooms, blocks and reservations. Running this utility updates the room type on in-house and future reservations and blocks with an arrival date equal or greater than the current business date. In addition, this routine updates the associated room configuration to the newly defined room type and will also update the new room types with the appropriate room class. Rate code pricing schedule must be manually updated to add pricing for the new room type and to delete the pricing for the original room type.

Note:

The original room types will remain available until you manually delete them.

For example, assume you change room type APT to A1 using the Change Room Type to Another Room Type utility. The following situations would occur:

  • Rooms previously configured with room type APT are now configured with room type A1.

    • The physical room count for room type APT updated to zero.

  • Reservations for room type APT will be assigned to room type A1 on the reservation stay details panel (provided the reservation is in-house or the reservation arrival date is the current business date or a future date).

  • Block allocations that held the room type APT will now display the room type A1 (provided the block is in-house or the arrival date is the current business date or a future date).

  • Block grid allocations will still display the room type APT however, the target room type A1 will be visible in the block grid and display the inventory that was previously associated with room type APT1.

  • Look to Book sales screen will display both room type APT and room type A1 assuming the active dates for both room types are prior to the current business date. The Physical Inventory associated with the room type APT will shift and be accounted for in the room type A1 column.

  • Rate Code Pricing schedules retain the pricing for the original APT room type.
