Configuring Reservation Type Schedules

Reservation Type Schedules enable you to schedule reservation types by associating a rate code, date range, or season code with the reservation type. When a reservation type is linked with a rate code, you can only select the linked reservation type while shopping with that rate code. The guest and booker credit ratings can also be associated with a reservation type.

Adding Reservation Type Schedules

  1. From the Administration menu, select Booking, select Booking Rules and Schedules, and then select Reservation Type Schedules.

  2. Click New and complete the following fields:

    1. Begin Date / End Date. Define the effective period for this reservation type schedule by selecting its start date and end date. Begin date defaults to the business date. Duplicate reservation type schedules cannot have overlapping effective periods. For example, assuming you have two reservation type schedules for the reservation type 6 PM, and both are applied to the RACK rate code. One rule schedule cannot have effective dates of 06-01 through 07-31 if the other already has effective dates of 07-15 through 08-15. When multiple reservation types are selected while adding a rule, a separate rule record is created for each selected reservation type.

    2. Rate Code. Choose the rate code to which this reservation type schedule applies. When creating a new rule schedule, this is a multi-select list of values. If a rate code is selected, credit rating cannot be selected for the schedule.

    3. Reservation Type. Choose the reservation type to which this rule schedule applies. When creating a new rule schedule, this is a multi-select list of values. Once the schedule is saved, this field becomes a single-select list of values when editing the rule schedule.

    4. Credit Rating. (Available when Credit Ratings is active in OPERA Controls). Choose a Credit Rating to associate this rule to the credit rating according to the start and end dates and other parameters. Guests and bookers who make reservations with this property will have these reservation type schedules applied, based on their credit rating as indicated on their profile. When creating a new rule schedule, this is a multi-select list of values. If a credit rating is selected, rate code cannot be selected for the schedule.

    5. Season. (Available when Rate Seasons is active in OPERA Controls). Select the Season Code to be assigned to this rule. Rate seasons are defined for a range of dates. The date range automatically completes the Begin Date and End Date fields.

    6. Sequence. Enter a number that controls the position of this code in listings. Codes without a sequence number assigned are listed in alphabetical order following codes with a sequence assigned.

    7. Override. Select if you want this rule to override all others that might apply to a date or range of dates. Select this option to take advantage of special events or holidays where one rule might supersede all others.

  3. Click Save.

Note:

When multiple criteria are selected separate schedules are created for each combination.
