Interpreting the Restriction Precedence Table

The table below demonstrates the interaction between different restriction types. Each cell indicates whether the restriction type mentioned in the row takes precedence over the restriction type mentioned in the column. The following keys are used in the table:

  • N (No): Indicates that the restriction type in the column does not take precedence over the restriction type in the row.

  • Y (Yes): Indicates that the restriction type in the column takes precedence over the restriction type in the row.

  • NaN: Indicates that the interaction between the restriction types is either not applicable or not considered in this context.

For instance, consider the row labeled "Open" and the column labeled "Closed". The cell where this row and column intersect contains an 'N', which means that "Closed" does not take precedence over "Open". In other words, if you have both restrictions applied, "Open" remains effective regardless of the "Closed to Stay = Closed" restriction. Another example is the row "Closed to Arrival" and the column "Open to Departure". The cell at this intersection contains a 'Y', meaning that the "Open to Departure" restriction takes precedence over the "Closed to Arrival" restriction. Therefore, if both restrictions are applied, the "Open to Departure" rule overrides the "Closed to Arrival" rule.
