Back to Back Reservations Authorization Examples

Back to Back Reservation Credit Card Authorization Examples.

Resv1 and Resv2 are linked as Back to Back (B2B) reservations:

Example One: Last stay reservation as payee:
  • When Routing (Other Room) is setup to transfer room charges (Lodging Transaction) from Resv1 to Resv2, Last stay reservation as payee:

  • During The Resv1 Check-in:

    • Resv1 - No Authorization collected during the check-in.

    • Resv2 - Card is authorized with the charges (Resv2 Authorization Amount + Resv1 Authorization Amount based on the Authorization rule).

    • If Resv2 authorization fails during the check-in, the check-in process stops with an error message.

Example Two: First stay reservation as payee:

  • When Routing (Other Room) is setup to transfer Room charges (Lodging Transaction) from Resv2 to Resv1, First stay reservation as payee:

  • During The Resv1 Check-in:

    • Resv1 – Authorized with  the charges (Resv1 Authorization Amount + Resv2 Authorization Amount based on the Authorization rule).

    • Resv2 – No Authorization collected during the Check-in.

    • If Resv1 – Authorization fails during the check-in, the check-in process stops with an error message.

Note:

You can only route the room charges of the next arriving B2B reservation to the first reservation. (For example: You have three B2B reservations: Resv1, Resv2 and Resv3, with Resv1 as the paying reservation, you can setup the Room Routing only for Resv2 to Resv1. Routing from Resv3 to Resv1 is currently not supported).

Example Three: Room Routing is not configured:

  • If the Routing (Other Room) is not setup for the back-to-back reservations, the Authorization processed for each reservation based on the Authorization rule.

  • During The Resv1 Check-in:

    • Resv1 - Authorized Amount based on the Authorization rule.

    • Resv2 - Authorized Amount based on the Authorization rule.

    • If Resv1 (or) Resv2 authorization fails during the Check-in, the check-in process stops with an error message.
