Managing Interface Users

Each interface (OXI, OEDS, OFIS, and FIAS property interfaces) requires an interface service account created for interface authentication and authorization.

  • Managing Legacy Integration : Managing interface users for legacy interfaces such as OXI, OEDS, OFIS, and FIAS is integral to maintaining secure and efficient operations within OPERA Cloud. These legacy interfaces require dedicated service accounts for secure authentication and authorization.

  • Managing Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform Integration (OHIP) : The Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform (OHIP) Interface user migration is part of the OPERA Cloud conversion from SSD to OCIM. The OHIP integration requires an integration user account to ensure secure authentication and authorization.

Note:

OHIP Integration users must select OHIP as the Interface Type.

Adding Interface Users

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Click New and complete the following fields:

    1. Organization: Search and select the Organization.

    2. Interface Type: Select the Interface Type from the list.

    3. Partner name: Enter the name of the partner registered with the OHIP interface. (This field is available only for OHIP integration users).

    4. Business Email: Enter the admin email for password expiry notifications.

    5. Click Save.

    6. The interface user credentials are displayed.

      1. Click Show to view the Interface Key.

        1. Hide: Click to hide the Key Details.

        2. Click Copy to copy Interface Key value to the clipboard.

    7. Click Save.

Accessing Interface Users

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. The interface users associated with the selected chain/property will appear in the search results.

Resetting Interface User Passwords

Use to reset the password in the event the existing password is forgotten.

Note:

For Interface Type IFC, the user credentials will be managed through automatic rotation You do not need to reset the password for any IFC users.

The interface user credentials are valid for 365 days from the creation date or the last password reset. A series of reminder emails is sent to the Business Email address at 30, 15, 7, 3, and 1 day before the password expires. The email contains a message like the following:

Hello <User ID>, Your Interface Account password will expire in 3 days. Please change password timely to avoid being locked out.

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Organization: Search and select the Organization.

  3. User ID: Enter the user ID of the account that requires a password reset.

  4. Interface Type: Select the Interface Type from the list.

  5. Click Search.

  6. Select the interface user in the search result, then click the vertical ellipsis Actions menu and select Reset Password.

    1. Click Reset Password.

      1. You see a message: Please keep Interface id and key secured. These credentials will be valid for one year.

      2. Click OK.

    2. On the Interface User screen:

      1. Click Show to view the Interface Key.

      2. Click Copy to copy the Interface URL to the clipboard.

    3. Click Save.

Deactivating Interface Users

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. Select the interface user in the search result, then click the vertical ellipsis Actions menu and select Inactivate User.

  4. A confirmation message will appear asking: Are you sure you want to inactivate the user?

  5. Click OK to confirm.

Unlocking Interface Users

Note:

The Unlock User functionality is available with OPERA Cloud versions 24.4 and higher.
  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Organization: Search and select the Organization.

  3. User ID: Enter the user ID of the account that requires a password reset.

  4. Interface Type: Select the Interface Type from the list.

  5. Click Search.

  6. Select the interface user in the search result, then click the vertical ellipsis Actions menu and select Unlock User.

    Note:

    The Unlock User option is displayed only for locked users.
  7. A confirmation message stating: User <User ID> has been successfully unlocked is displayed.

  8. Click OK.

Updating Email Address

Updating an email address helps organizations maintain current contact information, simplify password management, and adhere to best practices like using distribution lists. Keeping the email address up to date ensures that password expiry notifications and important communications reach the correct recipients.

To update the business email address for an Interface User:

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. Select the interface user in the search result, then click the vertical ellipsis Actions menu and select Update Email.
  4. In the Business Email field, enter the new email address.
  5. Click Save to update the email address.

Note:

  • There is no impact to other user management functionality; updating the business email does not affect interface credentials or permissions.
  • Password expiry notifications and other operational emails are sent to the updated email address.

Validating Interface User Credentials

To enhance accuracy and reduce credential-related access issues, the Manage Interface Users screen now users to validate user and password combinations. This real-time verification helps ensure smooth on-boarding and ongoing management for interface users.

You can use credential validation if -
  1. You are creating a new interface user and setting an initial password.

  2. You are resetting the password for an existing interface user.

  3. You want to proactively verify that the credentials provided are accepted by the system.

To validate the credentials:
  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. In the search results, select the user, then click the vertical ellipsis Actions menu and select Validate User.

  4. Enter the Property.

  5. Enter the Password.

  6. Click the Validate, you will get a pop-up confirming the same.

  7. Click OK to confirm.

Restricting Interface User Access by IP Range

To improve security and visibility for interface users, administrators can specify permitted IP addresses. This measure helps to prevent unauthorized access and enhances auditing capabilities.
  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Role Manager, User Management, Interface Users, and then select Manage Interface Users.

  2. Enter search criteria, then click Search.

  3. In the search results, select the user, then click the vertical ellipsis Actions menu and select Manage IP Address Ranges.

  4. To add a range, click New, enter the Start IP Address and End IP Address, then click Save.

    Note:

    • The IP addresses that you enter is masked for security.
    • Previously added IP address range can be edited or deleted as required.
