Migrating an existing installation to a new application server

Use this procedure to migrate to Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1 from an earlier version of Oracle Central Coding.

  • You can migrate from Oracle Central Coding version older than 3.1.0.1 by doing an in-place upgrade to Oracle Central Coding 3.1.0.1 followed by a migration to Oracle Central Coding 6.2.0.0, then an in-place upgrade to 6.3.0, followed by an in-place upgrade to 6.3.1, and a final migration to Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1.
  • You can migrate from Oracle Central Coding 3.1.0.1 by first doing a migration to Oracle Central Coding 6.2.0.0, then an in-place upgrade to Oracle Central Coding 6.3.1, followed by the migration to Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1.
  • You can migrate from Oracle Central Coding 6.2.x by first processing an in-place upgrade to Oracle Central Coding 6.3.1, followed by a migration to Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1.
  • You can migrate from a Oracle Central Coding 6.3.x release directly to Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1.
  • You can migrate from Oracle Central Coding 7.0 release directly to Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1.

To migrate an existing installation to Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1:

  1. Prepare the new server.
    For more information, see:
  2. If you are running Oracle Database 11.2.0.4, upgrade to Oracle Database 19.12.0.0.
  3. On the old application server, stop Oracle Central Coding services and disable all jobs.
  4. If you are also migrating the database server:
    1. On the old database server, export the schema files for Coding, Platform, and Dictionary database users.
    2. On the new database server, import the schema files exported during the previous step.
    3. Run ApplyHardeningGrantsToSchemas.cmd to grant database users necessary permissions on required packages. The script is located in the Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1 ZIP file in the foled CodingDBSetup\CreateCentralCodingDatabase.
  5. Install the Oracle Central Coding application on the new server running Microsoft Windows Server 2012. During the installation, select the options for using the existing Coding, Platform, and Dictionary Database users. For more information, see Installing a Oracle Central Coding application server.
  6. Using the Dictionary Loader, recreate the dictionary repository connections.
  7. Make sure jobs are running on the new application server.
  8. If user name/password authentication was configured for calls to the Oracle InForm Adaptaer interfaces prior to migration, a system aministrator must re-enter the Oracle InForm authentication user credentials in Oracle Central Coding 7.0.1 on the pages where they were previously entered (the Systems Configuration page or the Study Information page for individual studies).
  9. Uninstall Oracle Central Coding application from the old server.
