User account types

Users are assigned one of the following account types:

  • User—An account that is associated with a person. This type of account is the system default.
  • SuperUser—An account that is associated with a person and that never locks out after the configured number of failed login attempts.
  • Machine—An account that is not associated with a person, such as the account used by the job scheduler. Passwords for these accounts never expire. Machine users cannot login through the user interface.

Note:

Oracle recommends assigning the SuperUser account type to one or more users (preferably those with system and user administrator privileges). This ensures you always have at least one account with user management capabilities, since the last SuperUser account is protected against deactivation.
