Control authoring access in Oracle Clinical One Analytics

New global roles are available to control authoring and read-only access to Oracle Clinical One Analytics. With these roles, you can control which users can create or edit reports and dashboards and which users are restricted to only viewing and running existing reports.

Details for user administrators and global user managers

The existing study-level permissions to run a specific dataset are still available, but now they provide read-only access to Oracle Clinical One Analytics for a given dataset. These dataset permissions allow a user to view and run existing reports and dashboards, viewing only data related to the given dataset. Without authoring access at the global level, a user cannot modify reports or create new ones.

To have authoring access, a user must be assigned any of the new Analytics global roles. The Analytics global user roles, now available on the Global Settings page in Oracle Clinical One Platform, are:
  • Analytics: Data Visualizer Authoring: this role lets you create and modify reports and dashboards in the Oracle Clinical One Analytics Data Visualizer interface.
  • Analytics: BI Publisher Authoring: this role provides access to the Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Publisher functionality to create or customize pixel-perfect reports.

As a user administrator or global user manager, if you want a study team member to have authoring access to Oracle Clinical One Analytics, you must assign them the appropriate permissions at the study level and the appropriate new global user roles together. For example, if you only assign a user with any study-level dataset permission, like the Run the Unblinded Kits Dataset permission, they will only have read-only access to that specific dataset in Oracle Clinical One Analytics. If you assign a user with the Run the Unblinded Kits Dataset permission and the Analytics: Data Visualizer Authoring global role, they will have the ability to create, view, and update reports and dashboards that use this specific dataset.

You can find additional information in the Analytics User Guide once the Release Assessment Environment (RAE) upgrade completes.

Details for users working with Oracle Clinical One Analytics

Given that not every user with access to Oracle Clinical One Analytics has authoring privileges, the landing page is changing. When you access Oracle Clinical One Analytics from Oracle Clinical One Platform, you are now redirected to the catalog page. On the catalog page, you can find all the reports available to you, and from here, you can open and run any report to work with it.

Browse the Analytics User Guide to learn how to navigate through Oracle Clinical One Analytics based on your permissions.

Already working in a live study?

As soon as this release is available, a current Oracle Clinical One Analytics user will only have read-only access. To provide authoring access to a study team user, make sure they are included in Oracle Clinical One Platform as a global user for your organization and that you assign them with the appropriate Analytics global roles.
