Manage signal configuration refreshes

You can monitor and manage refreshes for interactive signal configurations and multisource signal configurations. You cannot manage scripted signal configuration refreshes. Scripted signal configurations are managed outside of the Oracle Empirica Signal application, based on your organization's requirements. See About signal configurations.

When to consider refreshing a signal configuration?

Typically, you refresh an interactive signal configuration after you perform the following activities (or the underlying data has been refreshed):

• Rename products.
• Manage designated medical events.
• Manage custom terms.
• Manage targeted medical events.
• Manage listed events.
• Edit alert types.

Additional considerations for multisource configurations

In addition to the above criteria, multisource configurations require a refresh in any of the following conditions:

• Dependent configurations have been refreshed.
• Secondary configurations have changed.
• Objects shared with the lead configuration have changed. When shared objects have changed, you must refresh the lead configuration first, then refresh the multisource configuration.

During a refresh, Oracle Empirica Signal incorporates your changes and validates the signal configuration. If validation errors are found, the refresh fails.

  Details for a signal management refresh include monitored products, renamed products, designated medical events, targeted medical events, listed events, custom terms, active alert types, and the signal configuration properties for the refresh.

  You can access refresh details for an interactive or multisource signal configuration.
• Cancel or delete a signal configuration refresh
  You can cancel refreshes that have not started or are in progress. You can delete refreshes that have a status of Complete, Error Occurred, or Canceled.
• View jobs for a signal configuration refresh
  The Jobs for Refresh page shows the progress of the jobs that make up a refresh.
• View job details for a signal configuration refresh
  If a refresh job fails, you can use the Job Detail page to determine the cause of the failure.
• Validate a signal configuration
  Validation occurs automatically during processes such as a refresh. Additionally, you can manually validate a configuration at any time on the Manage Signal Configurations page.
