Regenerating the encryption key file
The encryption key file is used to decrypt encrypted data at run time. The encryption key is generated once per installation. If the encryption key is corrupted or deleted, you can either reinstall the InForm Publisher software or reset the encryption key.
Using the InstallConfiguration.exe command line executable file, you can perform configuration-related tasks for the InForm Publisher application. The /changeEncryptionKey switch in the InstallConfiguration command allows you to generate or reset the encryption key, as follows:
- If the configuration file contains no encrypted data and no encryption key file exists, the switch generates an encryption key file, and encrypts the relevant data in the configuration file.
- If the configuration file contains encrypted data and an encryption key file already exists, the switch generates a new encryption key file, and encrypts the relevant data in the configuration file.
- If the configuration file contains encrypted data and no encryption key file exists, the InstallConfiguration command returns an error message and does not load the configuration file because a valid encryption key file is required to load the configuration file.
