General reporting FAQs

Can I create my own reports?

Yes, you can use the Cognos Reporting application to create reports.

Can I access reporting for two studies at a time?

No. If you open two Oracle InForm studies, and access reporting for one of the studies, clicking Reports to access reporting for the second study logs you out of reporting for the first study, and your changes are lost.

How are data access rights controlled in Oracle InForm Reporting?

Data access rights in the Reporting and Analysis module are inherited from the Oracle InForm study and adhere to the site associations and item blinding permissions that are in place for each user.

Additionally, to access the Reporting and Analysis module, an InForm user must be:

  • Assigned to a rights group that includes the InForm Reports right. The Oracle InForm Reports right gives users access to the Reporting and Analysis module.
  • A member of either the Sponsor Users or Site Usersreporting group. This conveys the Cognos Analytics Consumer permissions that allow users only to run reports.

You can give users access to additional reporting rights by making sure that the users are assigned to one of the default reporting groups installed with the Oracle InForm software. For more information, see the Study and Reporting Setup Guide.

Are my reports run against real-time data?

Yes. Data in the Reporting and Analysis database is updated in real time, so reports contain up-to-date information for your study. When you run a report, it contains the most recent data for every item or control.

How do my Oracle InForm locale settings impact Reporting and Analysis?

The languages that appear in the reporting environment are determined by the locales that are set for your study.

  • Prefixes for clinical metadata report elements, such as Code~, Unit~, and Date~.
    • Determined by: Default product locale, set during the Oracle InForm installation.
  • Names of the Trial Management report elements in Cognos Reporting.
    • Determined by: Reporting product locale, which is based on the default or user product locale settings in Oracle InForm.
  • Cognos commands and navigation controls.
    • Determined by: Reporting product locale, which is based on the default or user product locale settings in Oracle InForm.
  • Clinical data, and other language-dependent resources.
    • Determined by: Review schema locale, which is set automatically when you deploy your study to Oracle InForm.

How can I monitor site progress over time?

Save a report as a report view, which is a version of a report that contains the data at the time that you ran it. To save a report, when you view a report, tap the disk icon or the ellipsis icon. The location of the save option depends on the type of report you view. You also have the Save as option of saving the report version under a different name or in a different location. .

Can I schedule my reports to run automatically?

Yes. You can use Cognos to schedule individual or batches of both Report Studio and standard reports. For more information, see the Cognos documentation.

Can I email reports to other people?

Only if your study is self-hosted. If your study is hosted by Oracle, you cannot email reports to other people.

In previous releases, you could schedule a job to run in the background, and send an email that contained the report link. Users with report access could open the report from the link. However, a configuration option was available so that your organization could decide whether emailing reports was allowed. The configuration option was removed from Cognos Analytics 11. As a result, to protect subject data, we no longer allow anyone to send reports in an email.
