IPO Alerts

IPO alerts draw attention to items and locations whose projected inventory needs review. A rule sets the thresholds that must be exceeded before an alert appears. The three categories of alerts are Shortage, Low Stock, and Overstock. Each rule uses either Simple or Advanced settings.

Choose Simple as a quick way to get started. These alerts make simple comparisons to stock boundaries. When you have a significant number of replenished long life cycle items or are comfortable with alert signals but need to tighten up the alerting to more controlled thresholds choose Advanced. Advanced alerts allow you to set thresholds such as unit or retail thresholds, days of supply, and concurrent low stock days. The available fields depend on the alert category. Setting more thresholds helps filters out insignificant, brief dips in inventory.

Days to review sets how far ahead IPO checks for an alert, up to the available planning horizon. A problem beyond that window will not generate an alert for the current calculation. This helps reduce noise when future forecasts are too volitile.

Alert thresholds define the acceptable range, alerting occurs when values fall outside the range. Meaning less than or exceeds, not equal to the threshold. For example, when the trigger is 150 units, 150 does not qualify but 151 does.
