Manage Dynamic Segments

The Dynamic Segment functionality in Merchandising is controlled by a Use Dynamic Segments System Option. When the system is configured to use Dynamic Segments, you can define and manage Dynamic Segment information using the below steps.

  1. From the Tasks menu, select Finance > Dynamic Segments. The Dynamic Segments screen appears as shown below.

  2. Select the Set of Books for which Dynamic Segments are to be managed from the LOV. Once the Set of Books is selected, the field is disabled, and table displays segments from the selected set of books definition.

  3. Check the Dynamic indicator against the segment that you wish to make dynamic. Once this indicator is checked, the Dynamic Segment dropdown is enabled for that segment.

  4. From the Dynamic Segment dropdown select the value (Dept, Class, Subclass, Location, or GL Ref No) that the dynamic segment should be based on.

  5. The Download Dynamic Segments and Upload Dynamic Segment buttons are enabled.

  6. Click Download Dynamic Segment to download any existing mappings of the dynamic segment into a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet allows entry of a mapped value for each value of the segment. For example, if the Dynamic segment is based on Dept, then the spreadsheet can be used to capture mapped segment values for each Department in Merchandising.

  7. The mappings entered/updated in the spreadsheet can be uploaded into Merchandising by clicking the Upload Dynamic Segment button and selecting the spreadsheet template into which updates were made.

  8. The status of the upload can be tracked using the View Data Loading Status screen.

    Note:

The dynamic mappings defined using this screen will be combined with the GL Cross Reference Records to create complete account combinations for validation. For segments defined as dynamic, specification of values in the GL cross-reference record is optional.

    Note:

For segments defined as dynamic, defining dynamic segment mappings through the Dynamic segment screen is required for combinations to be automatically built.
