Create Customer

To create a new customer instead of selecting an existing customer, select Create Customer in the upper right on Search for Orders or Customers Options. You advance to the Create Customer Window to enter the information for the new customer.

When you are creating a new customer: The fields are blank except for the search criteria you entered in the previous step default to the fields here, as well as certain fields that are populated by default by system control values. For example, if you entered a last name of Jackson when searching for a customer, Jackson defaults to the Last Name field. This can be changed if required. The create option allows you to create a primary customer type. The + Create Customer button displays on the Search for Orders or Customers page only when the Primary Address tab is displayed. It does not display if One-Time Address or Address Book tabs are displayed.

  1. Select + Create Customer and enter the details in the Create Customer Window.

  2. Select Create and if no errors, the customer is created, and you advance into the customer page (Customer) and the Create Customer Window is closed.

    If a duplicate customer is found, the Duplicate Customers Found window opens. You can select to continue with the new customer record or select an existing customer with the same Match Code from the drop-down list.

    If ORCE Customer Integration (L37) system control value is set to INTERACT, the new customer record is sent to Customer Engagement.

    If the loyalty integration within ORCE is enabled, and Use ORCE Loyalty (M06) and Prompt to Join Loyalty (M07) system control values are set, the prompt to enroll in the loyalty program is shown on the Customer page. The following options are shown:

    • Never: Do not ask the customer again about joining loyalty. In this case, Order Administration sends a Customer Engagement Update Customer Request to update the ORCE_LOYALTY_PROMPT_ATTRIBUTE setting for the customer to FALSE so that Order Administration will not prompt the customer again to join the Loyalty program.

    • Not Now: The customer is not joining loyalty now but can be prompted again in the future. Order Administration does not send an update to Customer Engagement.

    • Enroll: Enroll the customer in loyalty.
